I'm not thrilled with the stock R seat. I had a Renazco on my 990 Adv and have a Seat Concepts on the 500 EXC. ktm-2019-790-adventure-comfort?variant

I bought a rally raid screen that is slightly lower, narrows in width further at the top compared to the KTM windscreen and has a bit of a turned "lip" - this windscreen is great for me. Current state and results: 2012 990 Adventure R with: 1- Rally Raid windscreen. 2- Aprilia mirrors.
I got mine 990 -06 last May with just a few hundred miles on the odo. Rode it home from the seller (350 miles) trough rain and winds with temperatures around 40-50 deg F.Since then i was hooked.I JUST LOVE THIS BIKE. All I can say is that the 950(carb) has a smoother trottle responce, but the 990 (fi) has more grunt and more power in the high end.
