Consider a Suzuki DR650. After a year or so or riding it on both street and dirt, you'll know when you are ready for a 690 Enduro R. Yes, it will cruise at 75 all day long, and be comfortable enough. The best part is that you'll sell it for the same price you bought it for, if you keep on on maintenance and such. Anyway, after this adjustments, lever fits well. However, it is not shorter than OEM lever, so my little finger is still in jeopardy. I will keep on searching for shorter lever. I found that OEM clutch lever for 2012 KTM 450 SX-F should be exact fit. Part number is 50302031300, and price is just bellow 50 EUR. 2022 KTM 250/450 SX-F. Notes: The stock bar bend dimensions on the orange brigade is also decent, but it’s too stiff and long (insert your own joke here). If you don’t think it’s too stiff, you can simply cut the bar to 805mm and run it! Preferred: Pro Taper EVO Race Team cut to 805mm (W)810 (H)91 (R)49 (S)52.
The successor of the KTM 640 Adventure is the 690 Enduro R. The 690 Enduro R is a pure dirt focused high-performance Dual Sport with a small tank and no windscreen. It has a 6-speed transmission and powerful fuel-injected motor, but its lack of a wide-ratio transmission limits its versatility.
Wife used to commute on her 640 Adv (later converted to a 640E front fairing for that dirtbike on 'roids feel) for years. Can't image the 690 is less sophisticated ; > She now runs an F800R, but same commute though - app. 90km 1-way if highway (rarely) and 110km if takes twisty 2-lane (99.99% of time).
KTM 500 EXC-F – plenty of power, best for off-road and experienced riders ; Honda XR650L – simple, reliable, stable/heavier, and good all-around; KTM 690 Enduro R – Great engine, a little heavier and more stable than the 650 dual-sport bikes; Husqvarna 701 Enduro – Same as KTM 690 but “white”

The 690 is certainly better offroad than any drz. I've done OBCDR for 8 days on it carrying everything, with 3 other riders, 2 of which also bought 690's (and also amateur racers), the other was a retired pro that picked an rxv. We all found it the perfect long distance light adventure bike. It does ride tall which is a turn off for shorter riders.
Something that's not mentioned much is the rather narrow turn radius. Being a short rider (5'5") and the 690 being heavy compared to other dirt bikes I definitely struggle in the tight stuff. show shallow steering angle doesn't help much but most stuff is still doable but you'll be working harder than other guys.
We went to great length to discover and fashion the best touring mods and short rider adventure touring hacks. KTM 690 Enduro R Short rider hacks are a must. In my opinion it is the best lightweight adventure motorcycle option on the market but it's tall. While KTM adventure touring is usually a phrase reserved for the larger brothers and sisters of the KTM 690 I have discovered the 690 XKWd.
